The Illustrated Wynken, Blynken, and Nod

Midwest Book Review (July 2006)

Midwest Book Review logo
Written and illustrated by Geoffrey Thornton, The Illustrated Wynken, Blynken, and Nod presents the timeless nursery tale and folklore story of three fishermen with a new interpretation through the use of vivid graphic art. Engaging young readers with this classic story, showcasing an original collection of graphic art from first page to last, The Illustrated Wynken, Blynken, and Nod is enthusiastically recommended for its novel approach to presenting a much loved poetic lullaby of the three famous fishermen by Eugene Field (1850-1895), which will continue to charm and entertain young children for many generations to come.

Amazon.com Reader Reviews:

"I am a preschool teacher. I saw this book in a bookstore in Grand Haven, Michigan, and bought it immediately for my nephew. He is five years old - not the type to sit still for a poetry reading! But he was totally captivated by this book and it is his first "favorite book" that he wants read to him multiple times a day. I can't say enough about the incredible illustrations. Blows everything I have seen out of the water! This book belongs up there with "Animalia" and other timeless favorites on the artwork alone." (April '06)

"What a treat to have such a jewel! My children not only loved the story, but really enjoyed the creative illustrations that accompany it. They spent hours being captivated by the pictures!" (May '06)

"It is a gorgeous, innovative, and very important book, immensely attractive to preschoolers, their great-grandparents (I am one of those) and everyone in-between. It combines the best of art, the best of science, the best of imagination, the best of pedagogy. It is the book of the future. Mr. Thornton is a genius." (May '06)

The Literary Lighthouse Review

Literary Lighthouse Review

A lovely illustrative interpretation of the children’s nursery rhyme, Wynken, Blynken and Nod. I found the color scheme to be visually pleasing to the eye with easily understandable pictorials.

Geoffrey Thornton has taken an old favorite and given it a new look. Though considering my age, I was anxious to see what the intended audience would say. So I gave it to a child…. his reaction…. “pretty stars.” I concur! (May '06)
